Celebrate 20 Years Helping People Achieve Their American Dream

Retail veteran Steve Rosenkrantz discovered self-sufficiency and financial freedom 20 years ago when he started his journey as a Career Ownership Coach™ with The Entrepreneur’s Source®, the nation’s leading coaching franchise.

Rosenkrantz spent the first 20 years of his career in various leadership roles at Serv-U Stores Inc., a home services, hardware and furniture retail chain. His father and two uncles started the business when they opened their first hardware store in Springfield, Massachusetts. The family business grew to include at least six thriving locations. After more than 40 years in business, stiff competition from big-box retailers forced the chain to streamline operations and focus on its locksmith business. “It was just a matter of downsizing the business to its specialty parts,” Rosenkrantz said.

At a crossroads in his career, Rosenkrantz opted to reinvent himself and pursue entrepreneurship independently through franchising. After spending 20 years working with family, he liked the idea of owning his own business. Yet, he knew he would need a support system to succeed. “I knew I would continue to be an entrepreneur. I always admired a couple of franchises in some of the areas near our stores. I admired the logo, marketing, and consistency of franchises,” he said.

Franchising gives people with the entrepreneurial spirit an opportunity to take charge of their career with a business investment that provides brand recognition, training and support to succeed. The franchise business model helps budding entrepreneurs achieve business ownership. Nearly one-third of franchisees said they would not own a business without franchising, according to a survey of 4,000 independent franchise owners conducted by Oxford Economics, in partnership with the International Franchise Association. In addition, franchises generate 1.8 times higher sales and provide 2.3 times as many jobs than comparable non-franchise establishments.

While he was contemplating his future, Rosenkrantz got a call from a Career Ownership Coach™ with TES who helped him discover a path forward. Going through the discovery process helped Rosenkrantz realize he wanted to help people escape Battered Career Syndrome by opening his own TES franchise in northern Connecticut.

“Working with a coach was a great experience. Being a client was really helpful. It helps me build a rapport with my own clients because I walk the walk. I was a model client. I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur and find the right fit,” he added.

During his tenure as a coach, the new grandfather received the Esource Coaching Excellence award in 2016, the Marketing Innovation Award in 2017, and was a Top Performer Club recipient in 2019. Rosenkrantz has two adult children and has been married to his wife, Diane, for 35 years. When he is not coaching, Rosenkrantz is an active member of the Rotary Club and an avid Boston sports fan.

Unlike many of his peers, Rosenkrantz retains his focus by operating his coaching business from an office outside of his home. To help generate leads and offer a valuable community service, Rosenkrantz formed a partnership with Lee Hecht Harrison, a provider of outplacement services. As part of his partnership, Rosenkrantz gives entrepreneurship seminars to people who are hunting for a new job.
